Introduction:
Medical camps hold an important place in the humanitarian framework, as they provide essential services to those in need within communities, especially in underserved areas, remote regions, and areas affected by wars and tribal conflicts. These camps contribute significantly to improving the general health conditions in communities.
Summary:
Ghubaysh Youth Centre and the Emergency Room, with support from the Youth in Action Organization, conducted a medical camp for displaced individuals and vulnerable groups in the community in Ghubaysh locality. The camp extended for three days, from October 29 to October 31, reaching a total of 542 patients from displaced and vulnerable community groups, including 253 males, 138 females, and 151 children.
Outputs of the camp:
1. Primary healthcare
2. Basic laboratory tests within the camp
3. Provision of essential medicines (pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, malaria treatments, etc.) and chronic disease medications (for hypertension and diabetes) through the camp’s pharmacy
4. Access to an eye care clinic
5. A dedicated ultrasound section
Outcomes:
1. A total of 542 patients from displaced and vulnerable groups in the locality were targeted.
2. The camp lasted three days.
3. The camp alleviated the suffering of displaced and impoverished community members who face challenges accessing medical care due to difficult economic conditions.
4. This camp left a positive impact on the local community, reinforcing the importance of kindness and generosity in a world where humanitarian values are fading, and nearly disappearing.
Recommendations:
1- The area in need for more health services due to the numbers of pregnancy women.
2- The general situation of the hospital is vulnerable compering with the huge number of the people of the area therefore need to be rehabilitated and equipped
3- The cadre of the hospital are working volunteering without salaries they are in need for support
4- Medical supplies to the hospital
5- Training for the cadres and train some interested girls and boys in first aid and train midwifes to take care for the huge numbers of pregnancies
6- After people left Babanousa and many El Fula Ghabish become the second city on the area after Al Nuhud therefore it needs health services to cover the area
Challenges:
1. Difficulty in obtaining essential medications and laboratory equipment.
2. Financial constraints in providing monetary incentives for the medical staff, who made tremendous efforts to ensure the camp’s success.
3. means of transportations for the pregnancy’s women to the area of the camp
4- the three days were not enough to cover all the people whom came to get their test and medicine
