outh in Action Organization (YAO), with generous support from Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), successfully implemented a Hygiene Promotion and Community Cleaning Campaign in Tawila, Central Darfur.
The campaign brought together community members, youth volunteers, women, and children to promote safe hygiene practices and collective responsibility for a cleaner and healthier environment. Activities included:
- Community cleaning of public spaces
- Awareness sessions on personal and environmental hygiene
- Community engagement on preventing waterborne diseases
In displacement-affected areas like Tawila, poor sanitation and limited access to hygiene services increase health risks, especially for children. This initiative aimed to strengthen community awareness, encourage behavior change, and promote dignity through collective action.
YAO remains committed to working with communities and partners to improve health, resilience, and well-being across Central Darfur.
